The Real Reason Your Losing Motivation In August
Do you ever look at your calendar and wonder where the days go? August is almost done — but my ‘To Do List’ isn’t!.
If this is you, don’t worry, it’s more common than you think. Some of us even start justifying why we almost wasted an entire month:
Exhaustion…
Hunger….
Bad Luck…
But if you peel back the layers, it almost always comes down to one thing — Lack of motivation and preparation.
How do we stay motivated each day and each week, and reach our monthly goals?
Maybe that’s what has drawn you to this blog post. If it is, please tell me in the comments what prevents you from achieving your goals?
The reason I didn’t reach my goals in August (though the month is not over yet) is I didn’t have a simple plan. It’s an old saying, but true — ‘Fail to plan — then plan to fail!’
I didn’t have a plan to follow.
So here are four steps of what I am going to do to find my motivation — maybe you could try them.
Step 1: Breathe in & out 1 to 3 times & clear your mind
Step 2: Ask yourself, why is this task important to me? How will feel when I complete it?
Step 3: Write down the reasons that come to mind — stick it on a wall.
Step 4: Read what you wrote out loud. Ask yourself — are these valid reasons to get you started & motivated?
Take 15 to 20 minutes to due the above exercise. Then write a simple plan of how you can fit the tasks in to the days.
There are only a few days in August left — but it is enough! With this new found motivation I am fired up to do the best I can!
